Giving back to the community

Fins is a locally owned restaurant by Chef Steven Snow. Over the past 20 years of operation Steven and the team at Fins have been heavily involved with a number of local and nation wide charities, charitable events and community projects. Fins proudly supports our immediate local community as well as major nationwide initiatives such as The Best of the Best, the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Breast Cancer Foundation, Streetsmart, Earth Hour and many more.

Fins is famous for its very own celebrity chef charity events. Notably the Tsunami Earth Quake Appeal and the Haiti Benefit, where Steven invited some of is favourite celebrity chef friends such as Neil Perry, Tetsuya, Armando Percuoco, Philip Johnson and more to create a great degustation menu. Working alongside the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières, our events are 100% non profit, with the support of local businesses donating wonderful auction items, all staff donating their time and suppliers donating produce. Proudly we have raised up to $60 000 in one night.

Intrinsic to the Fins philosophy is the concept of thinking locally. Steven is one of the pioneers in the food industry for insisting on only serving local organic produce, line caught fish, sustainable practices, rejecting farmed fish, fighting against genetically modified crops, reducing our carbon foot print and shopping from local farmers rather than multinational companies. He also like pigs! And believes they deserve to be treated with respect and care. Fins is passionate about being involved and promoting the Australian hospitality industry. We proudly support events such as The Electrolux Young Chef, Young Waiter and Young Restauteur of the Year Awards, The Josephine Pignolet Award, The Court of Masters Sommelier Program and many more.
